Asst. Prof. Johan Malmström
Johan Malmström is an Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences and the director of the cross-faculty ‘Centre of excellence in biological and medical mass spectrometry’ (CEBMMS) at Lund University. His research interests are focused on the structural and functional analysis of host-pathogen protein-protein interactions formed between bacterial and host proteins. The group uses modern quantitative and structural mass spectrometry techniques to describe protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks formed between bacterial and host proteins. The long-term goal of the work is to determine the importance of PPI networks for the development of severe and invasive infectious diseases.
The laboratory is located at CEBMMS at the medical faculty of Lund University and includes several states of the art mass spectrometers, established bioinformatics workflows and equipment for the biochemical characterization of proteins.
