Prof. Paul Millner
Paul Millner is Professor of Bionanotechnology, within the School of Biomedical Sciences (Faculty of Biological Sciences) at the University of Leeds.
His research interests lie in interfacing biomolecules including enzymes antibodies and synthetic receptors (e.g. Affimers) with non-biological surfaces such as electrodes, electro-spun nanofibers and nanoparticles to build functional devices on macro to nanoscales; these include electrochemical biosensor chips, nanoparticles as biosensors and for targeted imaging and drug delivery. The target for these devices is centered on diagnostics analysis for biomedical targets; early cancer diagnosis, viral vs bacterial infection, and for environmental analysis; antibiotics and other water pollutants.
The Millner group have electrochemical workstations and a laser optical laboratory for fluorescent nano-biosensors work whilst the Faculty of Biological Sciences have dedicated postdoctoral manager serviced facilities which include Bioimaging and Flow Cytometry, Biomolecular Analysis, Protein Production, Electron Microscopy and Mass Spectrometry.
